For my sign idea the gradient on the back is supposed to be a metal sheet with the logo printed on top.

I think the World Wildlife Foundtion has a successful logo. The panda is an extremely simple design but  you can tell what it is from a distance. Its also easy to guess what the logo means when you first see it.
